New Lung Cancer Staging System 2009

Cancer survivor, Karon Beattie, has compiled a cancer treatment reference book detailing over 350 alternative cancer treatments used by thousands of people who beat cancer. New Lung Cancer Staging System 2009 Although lung cancer is not always responsive to conventional cancer treatments, Beattie gives numerous accounts of people surviving lung cancer using alternative treatments. She states that these treatments are not covered by the FDA and usually not patentable by drug companies, resulting in poor knowledge among doctors.

Specifically in relation to lung cancer, Beattie’s book, “Natural Cancer Treatments That Work”, describes cases where a combination of nutritional supplements cured a patient’s lung cancer. She gives an account of an across-the-counter supplement that nearly doubled the tumor response rate for non-small cell lung cancer in conjunction with chemotherapy.

Beattie goes on to describe how nine men with untreatable lung cancer experienced major improvements in their conditions after taking a common vitamin.

Beattie further describes a treatment that heats tumors without damaging surrounding tissue, resulting in survival rates of 91% at eighteen months after diagnosis of non-small cell lung cancer for patients who had failed to respond to chemotherapy and radiation. This seems an astonishing outcome for a cancer given a poor prognosis by oncologists.

Beattie goes on to detail how a patented soup of cancer-fighting ingredients reversed a woman’s stage IV non-small cell lung cancer and how a 54-year-old man eliminated a bean-sized tumor on his right lung after five weeks taking a mineral originally found in Lourdes, France, now more widely available. In addition, the author has collected first-hand accounts from 156 people who overcame lung cancer using natural and alternative treatments. It seems incredible that if stories like this are true, that they are not standard treatment for lung and other cancers.

Beattie says that the creators of the treatments detailed in her book, include respected Nobel Prize winners, biochemists, doctors, scientists and Ph.D.’s. She believes that many doctors may be unaware of these treatments because they only prescribe, and indeed are trained to prescribe treatments regulated by the FDA. Many of the alternative treatments she lists involve herbs and vitamins that are outside the jurisdiction of the FDA. Yet they are available.

Beattie does not advocate self-treatment and provides a detailed guide on where cancer patients can get these sorts of treatment and support.

Stories like these are hard to ignore for cancer sufferers and their loved ones who surely deserve the best available treatments.

I understand that you want to get rid of any visible signs of your pimple as soon as possible but by picking on them you are only making things worse in the long run. By picking on them you are increasing the chance of them leaving a scar and if you irritate it enough then you can experience further breakouts.

3. If you are suffering from regular acne breakouts and the regular over the counter acne treatments that you find at your local drug store are not helping you then you need to seek professional help. Go to you doctor and get some perception acne medication. Your regular doctor can also refer you to a dermatologist in your area that will help you select the correct option to help you prevent acne breakout.

4. Whenever you are going out in the sun you should use proper sun protection. This counts specially if you visit your doctor and get a perception acne medication. The medication will leave you more sensitive to the sun than usual. I have gathered the cancer research news from Google and National Cancer Institute. Lung Cancer Statistics 2009Below are some of the new findings of cancer treatment which I found really benefits to the world.

1. New Cancer Treatment without Surgery

On the 27th of January 2009, U.T.’s Health Science Centre unveiled a new promising cancer treatment that revolutionized the way to treat cancerous tumors in patients’ lungs. After mild sedation, a catheter is inserted into patients’ throat and the lung near to the tumor. Radiation is released from a small seed at the end of the catheter and killed the tumor cells without killing the normal lung tissue. Therefore, the patient can still live normally after treatment. It only takes 3 to 4 minutes to undergo this treatment and the patient can leave the hospital a short time later without feeling sick.

2. Machine Boots Cancer Treatment

On 12th of June 2009, a new machine that can speed up cancer treatment for cancer patients has been unveiled. This machine enables an extra 200 radiotherapy cancer treatments to be carried out every week. It generates high intensity of radiation beams to kill cancer cells effectively.

3. CD8+ Memory Stem Cells to Destroy Large Tumors

On 14th of June 2009, the researchers at the National Cancer Institute found that a subset of immune cells, T lymphocytes called CD8+ memory stem cells, were capable of mediating strong anti-tumor immune response. These stem-like characteristics of CD8+ memory stem cells enable tiny numbers of T cells to stimulate the destruction of large melanoma tumors. The CD8+ memory stem cells have the enhanced ability to renew themselves, to proliferate, to differentiate and to kill tumor cells effectively.

4. ?-CbT – Compound Inhibited Nicotine Receptors for Cancer Treatment

On 15th of June 2009, the compound ?-CbT was found to inhibit the expression of nicotine receptors and increased apoptosis. As we all know, changes in genes encoding nicotine receptors can drive the urge to smoke and increase susceptibility to lung cancer as well. Exposure to nicotine will boost the expression of nicotine receptors which inhibits the apoptosis. Therefore, this new cancer treatment that targeted nicotine receptors by using ?-CbT can prevent the developing of lung cancer. The ?-CbT did not affect the noncancerous cells.

5. microRNA – Help Identify and Cancer Treatment for Lung Cancer

On 7th of October 2009, the scientists at National Cancer Institute revealed that a small RNA molecule, known as microRNA, can help to identify liver cancer and respond well to cancer treatment with a biological agent called interferon. The researchers showed that miR-26 (microRNA) status in tumors may be useful indicator both to determine prognosis for patients with hematocelular carcinoma (HCC) and to inform the selection of patients who might benefit from treatment with interferon to prevent disease relapse.

6. Suicide Gene – Induce Apoptosis on Tumor cells

On 9th of October 2009, A group of researchers from National Cancer Institute have used the suicide genes that cause a cell to kill itself through apoptosis to treat cancer. This new technique used the surviving gene promoter to induce the expression of suicide gene in cancer cells with a minimum effect on normal cells. When the survivin promoter-driven mutant bax was injected in to tumors of mice, the gene induced 60% of cancer cells in tumor tissue to undergo apoptosis. This slowed tumor growth significantly.

7. Reduce Radiation Damage by Blocking the Expression of CD47

On 21st of October 2009, the researchers at National Cancer Institute once again showed their contribution to the cancer research by developing a method that protects healthy tissues from damaging effects of radiation cancer treatment. Previous cancer research showed that mice lacking CD47 are resistant to radiation damage. Therefore, the researchers injected an agent that suppressed the CD47 expression during the radiation. They proved that this can protect the normal cells from damage by radiation.

8. Nicotine Patch and Nicotine Lozenge Works Best for Smoking Cessation

On 2nd of November 2009, the researchers from National Cancer Institute showed that the combination of nicotine patch and nicotine lozenge provided the great benefit for smokers to quit smoking effectively.

9. PDF – Mushroom Extract that Shrink Tumors Effectively

On 1st of December 2009, Dr. Brandon Louie and colleagues from Department of Urology at New York Medical College showed that a combination of interferon alpha (immunotherapy for bladder cancer) and PDF (mushroom extract) can reduce bladder cancer cell growth. However, it is too soon to claim that the PDF are a cure for cancer as the study provides no evidence that the mushrooms extract have health benefits in humans. Anyway, I still feel that this study has the further research value for cancer treatment in future.

10. Lunasin – Fighting Leukemia and Blocking Inflammation

On 2nd of December 2009, Elvira de Mejia, a professor of Food Science and Human Nutrition from University of Illinois claimed that lunasin, a soy peptide may have important benefits that fighting leukemia and blocking the inflammation that accompanies such chronic health conditions as diabetes, heart disease and stroke. Lunasin is a soy peptide often discarded in the waste streams of soy-processing plants.

In conclusion, the cancer research on cancer treatment is still has a long way to go. The cancer research will continue to carry out to provide the greatest benefits to the world.

Also a form of treatment used for early stage cancer is high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU). This procedure is carried out under anesthesia (or using a local spinal anesthetic) and a probe is placed into the prostate gland through the rectum. Another prostate cancer treatment option is radiation therapy. This prostate cancer treatment includes the use of radiation of high energy from protons, neutrons, gamma rays and x-rays, as well as other sources to kill the cancerous cells and to shrink any existing tumors. There are two ways that radiation therapy can be administered as prostate cancer treatment. The first is from a machine that is located outside your body called external beam radiation therapy, or you may have material that is radioactive that is placed in your body near where the cancer is located. This is referred to as internal radiation therapy.
A relatively new technique, which is still being evaluated, is known as cryosurgery. During cryosurgery, which is carried out under anesthesia, cooling probes are guided into the prostate using ultrasound and the cancer cells are killed by freezing them.

The outcome of prostate cancer varies greatly; mostly because the disease is found in older men who may have a variety of other complicating diseases or conditions, such as cardiac or respiratory disease, or disabilities that immobilize or greatly decrease their activities. Whatever the stage of your cancer it is important to consider all of the options carefully and weigh the advantages, disadvantages and risks of each carefully before choosing the treatment that is best for you.

Since my mother passed away from Pancreatic Cancer I have dedicated a large portion of my life to writing articles that will help Pancreatic Cancer patients improve the quality of their lives. Life is precious and until some are faced with a life threatening disease such as this many don’t take the time to realize how fragile and valuable life can be. What can you do when your most valuable possession which is life is jeopardized? The answer is that you cherish what you have and you take the steps to make the very best out of the time that you have. This article deals with digestion and debt relief for Pancreatic Cancer Patients and their families.  

Digestion and debt relief may seem like two peculiar subjects to tackle but in essence dealing with these two issues can make a world of difference for Pancreatic Cancer patients and their loved ones. First I will deal with the matter of digestion for those dealing with this brutal Cancer as proper digestion is vital for the Pancreatic Cancer patient. The reason for this is that people with this disease are fighting to live as the Cancer fights back to destroy them. We all know the frequently used expression, “You are what you eat.” The problem is that if you can’t eat you become nothing because you eat nothing or in other words you die if you are unable to nourish your body.  

There are tons of books with nutritional plans and diet suggestions for Cancer patients full of fantastic advice on foods that can heal you or help you live longer but you have to be able to consume them to make it work. Pancreatic Cancer robs you of your digestive abilities in so many ways from stealing your appetite to causing great discomfort when you do eat. You can eat several small meals throughout the day, ingest vitamin rich and protein rich supplements and you can even take your digestive enzymes which are all recommended but there are just going to be times no matter what you do when it is hard to eat.    

A nifty little trick my dad found out helped my mother when she did it and more than likely it will help you or your loved one as well and I encourage them to do this faithfully. Consumption of the proper diet during Cancer is vital for strength and for some even recovery. One crisis associated with Pancreatic Cancer specifically is that the entire digestive system is disrupted making it one of the worse Cancers in existence. One simple little item eaten with every meal and snack can provide digestive relief and that is a dill pickle. There is something in the makeup of a dill pickle that aids in digestion and helps prevent acid reflux, sickness and pain associated with diseases that make it difficult for people to eat and digest food. If you are not doing this already you should begin eating a dill pickle with every intake of food and watch the difference. You will be pleasantly surprised and you have nothing to lose. I am not a doctor and this is not medical advice it is just something that could possibly help you or your loved one live longer based upon something I’ve witnessed first hand. Try letting the dill deal with your digestive issues.  

The more a Pancreatic Cancer patient is able to eat especially of Cancer fighting foods; the better their quality of life will be. It doesn’t do anyone much good to live long with a disease if they have a poor quality of life and for the Cancer patient quality of life is a critical treasure as you never know how much life you have. What if the ability to eat the right foods helps you live longer on this earth? What if? Aren’t dill pickles worth a try? It was very painful seeing my mother not be able to eat. We would get so happy when she had an appetite and then to see her racked with pain after eating was always a scene that killed the joy of the victory we felt we had jachieved ust moments before hand. When the dill pickles helped her digest her food without complications and pain I gained new hope of a prolonged life or recovery for her but she didn’t stay consistent with it and that was the downfall.  

Thankfully, you can learn from our mistakes. Sometimes it is tough to get a Cancer patient to do what it takes to make them live when they are on mind altering pain killers like morphine. What I recommend is to make sure somehow that the Cancer patient you know, especially those with Pancreatic Cancer continues the dill pickle eating regimen faithfully no matter what it takes. It always amazes me how a component to a cure can be a simple item we never paid attention to before. Two other treatments I recommend that you research on the internet for Cancer are the baking soda treatment and the asparagus treatment. Try everything reasonable until you find something that works.  

Secondly, I would like to deal with the topic of debt. Cancer is a very difficult disease to treat and most people don’t have enough insurance coverage to deal with the high Cancer treatment bills. All of the medications we had to get for my mother were so numerous and costly that our annual prescription benefits ran out. Some prescriptions cost as much as 0 for a 10 day supply. It is absolutely outrageous that when a person is dying and paying their debt to life they have to almost break themselves just to live or live a little longer in the most peace they can find with the disease. First and foremost please come to the realization that Cancer can happen to anyone. Cancer does not discriminate and no one is exempt. Cancer comes to the rich and the poor, the famous and unknown, the young and the old, the black, white, brown, red and yellow. You would have to contact an agent to get more details. I just wanted to tell you a little about it in this article.

Next I would research studies that are being conducted for Cancer patients. Pancreatic Cancer is a Cancer that has been underserved when it comes to Cancer research and even recently bills have been passed for more Pancreatic Cancer research to be conducted. If a Pancreatic Cancer patient gets accepted into a study they are many times able to receive the latest cutting edge treatments for the disease and at no charge. I definitely recommend taking part in a study but if the treatment seems too hard on your body don’t continue. Since Pancreatic Cancer is so difficult to diagnose it usually isn’t diagnosed until it is already stage four and at that stage many times there is very little benefits that come from chemotherapy. My mother tried an experimental chemotherapy that did show improvement but  she was unable to continue with it due to its effects on her.

The third thing I want to share on the subject of debt relief is in regards to life insurance. The only thing I really have to say about this is make sure you have more than just enough life insurance to cover the funeral. Life insurance should be at an amount that covers funeral arrangements, as well as, bills and living expenses for those left behind. I am both sorry and not sorry to say that. Sorry because the reality that death may occur is very difficult to deal with. It is extremely hard to think about the one you love or even yourself not living anymore. I’m not sorry because it is a possible reality that must be dealt with. My mother left a lot bills for my father to deal with and in his and the family’s grief it would have been nice not to have bill collectors callings while we ourselves were grieved to death from our loss. You have to think about income replacement, funeral expenses, bills and existing debt ahead of time. It will make things easier in the long run so please just do it.  

In addition to providing people with Pancreatic Cancer and Cancer in general with useful information based upon my experience with Cancer through my mother I have started a business that helps people become mortgage and debt free. Imagine the burden that can be lifted off of you when you own your home outright and have no mortgage payments. Now imagine what it would be like to not only have no mortgage payments but for your bills to be paid off as well such as car notes and credit card bills. What is Breast Cancer?

The term breast cancer refers to a malignant tumor that has developed from cells in the breast. The breast is composed of two main types of tissues: glandular tissues and stromal (supporting) tissues. Glandular tissues house the milk-producing glands (lobules) and the ducts (the milk passages) while stromal tissues include fatty and fibrous connective tissues of the breast. 1. Small cell carcinom
Around 15 per cent of lung cancers are small cell carcinomas. This type of cancer spreads early and shows few early symptoms.

2. Non-small cell carcinoma
These cancers affect the cells that line the main bronchi.

Some lung tumors are metastatic from cancers elsewhere in the body. The lungs are a common site for metastasis. Since lung cancer tends to spread or metastasize very early in its course, it is a very life-threatening cancer and one of the most difficult cancers to treat. Small cell lung cancer has two stages which is :

1. In the limited stage, the tumor exists in one lung and in nearby lymph nodes.

For non-small cell lung cancer, these stages are labeled from I to IV. The lower numbers indicate earlier stages where the cancer has spread less :

1. Stage I is when the tumor is found only in one lung and in no lymph nodes.

2. Stage II is when the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes surrounding the infected lung.

3. Stage III is when the cancer has spread to lymph nodes around the trachea, chest wall and diaphragm on the same side as the infected lung.

4. Stage IV is when the cancer has spread to lymph nodes on the other lung or in the neck.

5. Stage IV is when the cancer has spread throughout the rest of the body and other parts of the lungs.

As with most cancers, the results are best if the cancer is diagnosed in its earliest stages. However, some lung cancers aren’t diagnosed until they are quite advanced. Treatment may then be limited to easing the symptoms. To cure lung cancer depend on treatment option.
